Out West AI is a distributed software company spread across North West Queensland. No city HQ. No polished pitch deck. A handful of people building the tools we kept looking for and couldn't find.

THE STORY

Why we started Out West AI.

For years, the people running cattle stations, civil crews, small councils, and community committees out here were making do with software designed for offices in Sydney, Melbourne, or somewhere offshore. Tools that assumed full-bar reception, nine-to-five hours, and problems that look nothing like ours.

We kept hearing the same thing from friends and neighbours: "There's nothing that does this properly for us." Eventually we got tired of saying it too.

So we started Out West AI, a company set up specifically to build software for the bush, by people who live it. Our offices are the homesteads, kitchen tables, and utes of North West Queensland. Every product starts with a real problem a real person told us about.

Nyssa leads the brand, product direction, and the parts of the business that face the world. She's the one working out what problems are actually worth solving and what each product should feel like to use.

William Harrington

Co-Founder

William leads engineering and infrastructure. He designs, builds, and runs the systems our products sit on. He's also the reason the software keeps working when the reception doesn't.

Brendan "Ras" Rasmussen

CEO

Ras runs the business. Partnerships, operations, and the long game. He's the person who turns a good product into a going concern, and the first point of contact for anyone wanting to work with us at scale.

Plain English, always.

If you need a glossary to understand what a piece of software does, that's the software's fault, not yours. We write and talk like the people we're building for.

Built where it's used.

Our products are shaped by the places they're made. That means designing for patchy reception, long distances, and working hands, not air-conditioned open-plan offices.

No dead-weight pricing.

We charge fair prices for tools that do what they say. No per-seat padding, no upsell traps, no enterprise mystery pricing. If you can't afford it, we haven't made it right yet.

Honest when it's easier not to be.

If our product isn't right for you, we'll tell you. If something we're working on is running late, we'll say that too. Trust compounds; lies don't.
